Is it possible to change your smile in a day

We provide cosmetic dentistry to help you maintain a beautiful smile and retain confidence in your appearance. Dental veneers are an effective solution when the appearance of front teeth causes concern due to a broken or misshaped tooth or obvious colour difference.

The treatment may be used when orthodontics are not an available option and the appearance of teeth causes concern. Veneers consist of an extremely thin layer of porcelain or composite material that is bonded to the front of teeth to create a natural appearance and solve the problem experienced with the natural tooth/teeth.

Dental Veneer Treatment

Before starting the treatment, your dentist will instruct the dental laboratory to make a mock-up veneer to show you how effective the final treatment will be. When you have agreed to the veneer treatment, you will have another appointment to prepare your tooth for the veneer, and this will then be bonded into place at your following dental appointment.

Your veneer treatment may involve removing some of the enamel front surfaces from your tooth or teeth. This is so the the porcelain or composite veneer bonds permanently to the outer surface. Your dentist may give you an injection of local anaesthetic prior to the removal of this small amount of enamel to make sure you don’t feel pain or discomfort. Once the initial preparation is complete, the dentist takes an impression of your tooth which will be sent to the laboratory so the veneer can be made.

It’s not generally necessary for a temporary veneer to be fitted before your second appointment. The enamel that has been removed from your tooth is so slight that it won’t be noticed during this interim period of time.

When you return to the dentist for your veneer fitting, it will just take a few moments to bond into place. It will take a while for your mouth to fully adjust to the veneer, however, you’re sure to be thrilled by the new appearance of your teeth and smile. After a week or so, you will have one further appointment so your dentist can make a final check of the veneer and polish it, so that there is a perfect match with your existing teeth.
